With the help of Max L. Cowen's Student Stores, the families of 1BCT, 10th Mountain Division are working on an initiative, Operation Education, that supports the troops. Much of our soldiers' involvement in Iraq is centered around the community. They spend a lot of time interacting with the local schools and populace.

Operation Education sends school kits for the soldiers of 1BCT, 10th Mountain Division to distribute to the approximately 200 schools in their area of operation. Many of the schools have no sewage, desks, fans or school supplies. Our soldiers are working very hard to improve these schools. Operation Education directly aids our soldiers in this mission.

The donation of school supply kits helps to strengthen their relationship with the local children and families, promotes a secure environment to educate tomorrows Iraqi children, and simultaneously provides the children with the basic essentials for learning. For $10, Max L. Cowen's Student Stores will assemble and ship one school supply kit that contains the following supplies:

• 1 Pair of blunt-end scissors
• 1 12-inch ruler with metric markings
• 12 Pencils with erasers
• 1 Small pencil sharpener
• 1 Box of colored pencils (crayons melt in the heat!)
• 1 Large eraser
• 1 Package of notebook paper
• 1 Composition book
• 3 Folders with inside pockets
• 1 Zipper pencil bag
